So you want to call a meeting....
Eight ways to make it bearable
1. Make sure there's really, absolutely, definitely no alternative. Phone, email, memo?
2. Have an agenda and send out beforehand. Once objective established check if you still need a meeting.
3. Keep the numbers down. Effective meetings between 6 and 10 people.
4. Spread the load. Nominate facilitator, someone to take minutes, scribe for the whiteboard, etc.
5. Do your homework. Get the catch up done before the meeting not in the meeting.
6. Start on time, end on time and keep the bit between as short as possible.
7. Shut away toys - no electronic grazing.
8. Write up minutes. Record decisions taken and actions committed to.
