In 1992 Edgar Schein (Organisational Development Guru) said “We basically do not know what the world of tomorrow will really be like except that it will be different. That means that organisations and their leaders will have to become perpetual learners.” Wise words for 1992, a year of worldwide economic turmoil.
In tough times business leaders need to be penetrating and decisive and sometimes it is hard to access clarity and precision alone.
Coaching with Pause for... enables clients to pay attention to their own well being and growth, ensuring that they and their businesses are fit for the future, no matter how tough today is.
Coaching is forward-looking and goal-oriented. It assumes that the client has all the resources necessary, including the ability to find and use the resources they need. The purpose of coaching is to help the clients define for themselves what they want, become aware of previously unknown options and choices, develop appropriate strategies, and move towards their outcomes.
The coach assists and accompanies the client on their chosen route to their goals. At times she will keep the client focussed, at times she will challenge with questions. Always she will support and be there for the client and she will encourage and believe in them. She will also hold the vision, which the client may at times lose in the course of the coaching.
The coach may be in control but the client is definitely in charge ... in the driving seat.
