Chairman’s Lunch, 2005

This year’s Chairman’s Lunch brought around 40 members to the Volunteer in Trumpington, and witnessed two major changes in the CBN committee. Caroline Lloyd-Evans stepped down after three eventful and productive years as Chair, and handed over to Liz Ingle. Sara Garnham, who has done sterling work as Secretary, also handed over the reins, her job being taken up by Anne St Ives.

Budget Summary from 16 th March

As we juggle our lives to run our business and look after our families the Budget has few attractions. This was a typical pre-election Budget with little to inspire us and not much to be concerned about. We look forward to hearing more about Mr Brown’s proposals to reduce “the administrative burden of the tax system on small businesses”. There have been many empty promises made in the past about cutting red tape.I have yet to be convinced that the Government can make it work.
