CBN sponsorship update
As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the lives of women, CBN is sponsoring three years’ secondary education for Thubelihle Sibanda, a 12 year old underpriviledged girl in Zimbabwe.
The funds are administered through the Alex Ruffell Memorial Fund which supports the village of Chidobe at Victoria Falls. Small amounts of cash from the fund buy huge amounts of resources for the primary school; furniture, 48 boxes of shoes and clothes, a tv and video, and uniforms for all 350 pupils.
Our £500 per year, has enabled Thubelihle to attend Bingu High School. She would otherwise have been forced to work as a housemaid. The funds cover the cost of her school fees, school uniform and daily food.
We have received a letter from Thubelihle sending greetings to CBN and thanking us for sponsering her. She says “I passed four subjects and failed four so next term I will work hard so that I will improve my work. My mother is very happy. She thanks you very much”.
Sue Ford takes the cash to Zimbabwe in person twice a year so we know our donation is being spent on what it is intended for. She also brings back photographs and updates to let us know how Thubelihle is getting on.
